Spectacular Carnival

Retravision Northern’s 2007 Annual Seminar concluded with its Gala Awards Dinner on Saturday 22nd September, with the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre’s Arena erupting into a Brazilian Carnaval. Over 900 guests attended the Tropical extravaganza including Retravision Members, Suppliers and Special guests from Queensland and Northern NSW. As Retravision is a long-standing a Noble Event (aNE) client, it was a challenge to make this year’s Gala Dinner more magnificent than any other previously produced to date.

True to form, aNE facilitated an evening to remember, with a feast of colour, movement and excitement right from the first moment the guests spilled through the doors. Brightly coloured linen with tropical fruit centrepieces topped the tables whilst Brazilian showgirls barely dressed in bedazzling jewels and pink feathers paraded around the dance floor and amongst the guests.

State-of-the-art lighting fixtures were orchestrated in a myriad of rainbow and tropical colours pivotal to creating the Carnaval atmosphere. Local band Tijuana Cartel were next to carry this extravagant theme forward performing from a custom built stage positioned in the middle of the venue.

With a mix of aNE engineering genius and creative nous the stage was then lifted to the ceiling simultaneously transforming into a spectacular chandelier. With drops of brightly coloured satin interspersed with a range of creative lighting fixtures, the chandelier formed an amazing central focal point for the remainder of the evening.

A massive eighteen metre wide screen was utilised as a backdrop to the stage upon which was projected a myriad of customised graphics, video footage and camera images that captured all the colour and movement one would expect with a Brazilian Carnaval. As with all previous Retravision gala dinners, the feature entertainment was a closely guarded secret, and despite a range of glorious desserts being offered up, there was no stopping the guests rushing to the dance floor as Human Nature erupted on to the stage. Delivering their hugely successful Motown Hits show, the boys had every one ‘Dancing in the Streets’ as they grooved through their main set and two encore performances.

As Tall Pop Syndrome played out the night, guests then had an opportunity to visit one of the gypsy style tents that were setup around the venue for palm readings, or tattoos for the more adventurous.
