Bledisloe Cup / Rugby World Cup

Australia and New Zealand have always enjoyed a healthy rivalry when it comes to the sporting arena. In 2008, Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium played host to two of the most hotly contested and highly coveted sporting cups played out between these two nations, the Bledisloe Cup and the Rugby World Cup. With attendance at these events setting new records, it comes as no surprise then to see that guest numbers were also at capacity for the pre and post match events conducted at the Keg Room in the XXXX Castelmaine Brewery. Produced and Managed by Corporate Sports Australia, the functions are a mainstay in the sporting events calendar and are highly regarded in the corporate community.

As regular readers of this newsletter would be aware, conducting successful events within the Keg Room is reliant upon a number of factors. Pivotal to this success is the teamwork environment that is created between all of the event partners, these being XXXX Castelmaine, Corporate Sports Australia, Caxton Street Catering, and a Noble Event. In excess of 800 guests were catered for on both of these events, which remains a large undertaking when you consider that the venue contains no event infrastructure and is virtually offsite. Rendering this task a little easier is the fact that, and one would normally assume, there is an enormous amount of palettes stacked high with kegs onsite. As with all events in the Keg Room, and over the course of two days, the palettes are endlessly moved and shunted around the space to create a number of separate areas. A keg lined walkway greets guests as they make their way into the venue, whilst catering back of house areas for prep and cleanup are also created. Further down the side of the keg room additional entrances are made available through the wall of kegs to the large freestanding male toilet blocks, and to the onsite ladies toilet. For the most recent event, the Rugby World Cup Final, temporary air conditioning systems were installed and again the palettes were extremely handy in concealing the large plant and generators that formed part of this installation.

For all facets of these two events, the expectations are high and delivering a professional and rewarding experience for the guests is paramount. The production values employed by a Noble Event for the Keg Room once again reflected the experience that we offer our clients, and the professional nature in which we undertake all projects. Both events featured extensive truss and rigging, draping, staging, linen, digital lighting and audio, and high definition projection systems featuring multiple cameras. Whilst the Keg Room is a good example of some of the services we can provide, we are also acutely aware that it is not always about the equipment. This is why a Noble Event has spent years in developing a production team of technical partners and crew that share the same level of experience and individual know-how that is required to do the job, and do it well. This all translates down to one thing for our clients, a “can do” attitude, the power of which cannot be downplayed. After all, it is people that will propel the events industry forward, not equipment.
