Brisbane Truck Show 2009

May 2009 saw the Qld Truck and Machinery show roll once again into the venues at the RNA showgrounds, and as with previous years a magnificent expo was provided for all of the followers that make their yearly pilgrimage to this diesel mecca. Whilst there remains a huge variety of machinery on show, people tend to gravitate towards the truck display where the lure of gleaming chrome, highly detailed paintwork, and huge rubber evokes the truckie in all of us. Once you are there it is hard not to climb up into the cab and daydream about the long straight road ahead, the colourful conversation on the CB, and the sounds of Roger Miller in the background. The reality of course is much different to this, and being a truck driver would have to be one of the hardest jobs going, but the levels of technology and comfort that are now available to the drivers is unlike anything seen before, and has left many an angry wife and girlfriend.

As manufacturers, Mack and Volvo are two brands that have always been at the forefront of technology and take great pride in their product. With such an approach it is no surprise that these two companies will always want their trucks displayed in the best possible fashion, and each year they put an incredible amount of time into the concept and design of their display stands. First and foremost it is about the trucks, but the displays have to combine accessibility and comfort for their patrons, whilst also incorporating high levels of technology and production in the background. For Mack and Volvo a seamless delivery of these values is vital to the overall success of the show, both in terms of brand exposure and ultimately sales. Whilst both stands required separate production elements, a Noble Event was charged with the task of site managing each of the stands during installation and throughout the course of the show.

Featuring the New Breed Trucks, the Mack display also offered guests extensive merchandising, four fashion shows a day, and the opportunity to look over the first Gas Powered Granite cement mixer in the world. With the stand supplied by D3 out of Melbourne, a Noble Event installed a digital lighting system that included a series of Studio Command 700 wash luminaires to highlight the trucks, fashion stage, and general display areas. Audio reproduction was made possible through the use of a Turbosound speaker and sub system that delivered a discrete yet powerful audio presence also throughout the display. It would seem that the effort of all those involved with the Mack display did not go unnoticed, as come the end of the show, Mack was awarded with the Manufacturer’s Stand of the Show. A great result for all.
